The Halloween Book Tag

BOO! It's Halloween soon, so of course, I had to do The Halloween Book Tag!

1) Favorite horror book?
Well I haven't read any horror books...does Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children count? Cause that book scared me, especially because I was reading it at like 11:00 PM and I was alone....

2) Scariest moment in a book you've read.
Again, I haven't read scary books, but I find that moment just before a character dies to be scary and upsetting. Page 250 of  The Death Cure by James Dashner I guess would fit this.

3) Have you ever dressed up for Halloween as a book character?
No. I was hoping to do a Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children cosplay this Halloween, but  I don't think it's going to happen.

4) What do you think your favorite fictional character would dress up as for Halloween?
Well I have TONS of favorite characters, but I'll go with Percy Jackson. He'd dress up as a fish or something, and then dump fish oil and salt water on him and his costume so that'd he smell like a fish.

5)  What is your favorite type of horror?
Spooky and thriller types.

6) If books were as cheap as candy, what book would you give out to trick-or-treaters?
The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien OR Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard.

7) You Halloween TBR list?
Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs(Miss Peregrine's book 3) and Asylum by Madeleine Roux.

8) Recommend some Halloween reads.
Oh gods.....um... The Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children trilogy and Magnus Chase and the Gods of Asgard(it seems to be associated with Halloween..so yeah) and Carmilla by J. Sheridan Le Fanu(it's a super creepy vampire novella that scared me so much I couldn't sleep. It predates Dracula by...oh a long time. Here's a link to a online version :http://www.sff.net/people/DoyleMacdonald/carm_01.htm

AND THAT WAS THE HALLOWEEN BOOK TAG!! (and yes, I realise I mentioned Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children more times than I should have....OPPS! I mentioned it again ;) )

BONUS! I made a Halloween themed bookmark! Just save the picture, print it off, laminate it, and BOOM. Instant cute  Halloween bookmark.

The Heir by Kiera Cass book review!

The Selection is probably the cutest series EVER.
(Am I the only one who thinks that she'd make a great America Singer?)

So the Heir is the fourth book in the Selection series by Kiera Cass, and, as usual the cover was GORGEOUS! GAH I WANT THAT DRESS!
A lot of people say that Eadlyn was 'whiney and annoying' and blah blah blah. I actually didn't find her that whiney or annoying! In fact, I totally sympathized with her. Think about this way: Your parents suddenly tell you that they want you hold a Selection so you can get married. You'd be pretty furious too.....so really, can we hold it against Eadlyn if she's a bit whiney? I'd be even MORE whiney than her, to tell the truth, if I was her. 0_o Thank gods that Selections don't actually exist. My overall opinion of this book? ASDFGHJKL AMAZING I LOVE IT.

MASSIVE SPOILERS FOR THE HEIR COMING UP.
AVOID READING FURTHER IF YOU HAVN'T READ THE HEIR YET.

AND NOW FOR MY VERY-SPOILERLY-THOUGHTS ON DIFFERENT THINGS FROM THE BOOK.

1) The caste system being removed and the ridiculous civil unrest.
YAY! I really hated the caste system, but the fact that people are still judging each other by what caste their family came from is ridiculous.
Parent: NO YOU CAN'T MARRY THAT GIRL HER FAMILY WERE EIGHTS!
Person: YOU CAN'T HAVE THIS JOB BECAUSE YOUR FAMILY WERE FIVES!
Person: I'M BETTER THAN YOU BECAUSE MY FAMILY WERE TWOS AND YOU FAMILY WERE ONLY SIXES!

2) Eadlyn's fit over the whole Selection idea.
Let's just say that she handled that situation as well as can be expected from a 18 year old who doesn't want to get married.

3) The Suitors.
GAH. I like most of them. They are all so sweet(usually) and kind(mostly) that I don't really know which one would be best for Eadlyn.

4) Kile and Eadlyn.
Do I ship them? I don't know. ARGHHHHH

5) Henri and Eadlyn.
Again, I sort of ship them.....Henri is sooo adorable tho. XD

6) Ahren running away to France to marry Camille.
Seriously Ahren? That was NOT necessary.

7) America having a heart attack after reading Ahren's letter.
SEE WHAT YOU DID AHREN?! HM? FEEL HAPPY NOW? OH YEAH AND AMERICA BETTER NOT DIE. IF SHE DOES...............*GLARES*

8) "I knew that for my sake - for my family's sake - that I had to finish my Selection. And when I did, I'd have a ring on my finger." ~Eadlyn( the last two sentences of the book)
ARGH. I JUST CAN'T.....*CRIES*

I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW!

So yeah....that was my review. 5/5 stars!

The Death Cure by James Dashner book review

Guys. Page 250. Seriously. It killed me.

                                                     WHYYYY JAMES DASHNER?!
Ok don't get me wrong, I loved this book. James Dashner managed to do what not all authors can do: end their book series with a bang. And the Maze Runner trilogy certainly ended with a bang. A heart-breaking-evil-awesome-epic-sad bang. The kind that makes you cry and feel depressed. The book was well written and action packed, just like the last two books. I think the one of the reasons this book had such impact on me, is because I read the Scorch Trials and The Death Cure in less than one day, one right after the other. It was kinda like I was living in the Maze Runner world, you know? And than...BOOM. END OF THE BOOK. The Maze Runner trilogy is amazing.

AND NOW. IF YOU DON'T WANT LIFE-ENDING SPOILERS, LEAVE NOW.

                                                     DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.

1) Phase Three of the Trials
This was probably the only part of the Trials that made the least sense at all, I mean, the Maze Trials and the Scorch Trials were a  little strange.

2) The Rat Man telling them they can get their memories back.
I didn't buy all that 'oh yeah you'll totally remember everything! All your memories will be legit real not faked', and I'm really glad Thomas, Newt and Minho didn't either!

3) Newt having the Flare.
At this point, I was already dying from the feels. BUT I did trust James enough still to hope that we would come up with a cure. HAHAHAHA.

4) Denver City.
Gods. Denver city was soooo creepy! All those people walking around, wraped up in coats and stuff, and holding herbs to their noses(Rose got my nose, I suppose!) really reminded me of what people did back in Medieval Time when the Black Plague was going around.

5) Gally.
This made me angry, but then I actually pity him now. Poor Gally.

6) Thomas getting WICKED'S device removed from his brain.
This was a really cool scene. It was interesting to read how Thomas didn't want to harm his friends but he couldn't control what he was saying or doing. It kinda made me even more sorry for Gally.

7) Going to find Newt in the Crank Palace.
All I have to say: WHYYYYYYY ASDFGHJKL

8) The Red Arm.
Why are rebels/rebellions have names to do with fire or the color red?

9) "Please, Tommy. Please." ~Newt, page two hundred and freaking fifty.
I read this part at 11:00 PM at night. Naturally I couldn't sleep the rest of the night because of all the feels. WHY JAMES DASHNER DID YOU HAVE TO KILL MY FAVORITE CHARACTER?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10) Going back into the Maze.
Ah reading that part was so fun. Like heck yeah I know that place!

11) Teresa's death.
NOOOOOOOO WHY SRRSLY I LOVED HER CHARACTER. I SHIPPED HER AND THOMAS NOW MY OTP IS RUINED THANKS A LOT!

12) The ending.
This was an amazing ending. It kind of reminded me of the ending to the Return of the King. Sad, but happy, and also bittersweet. Oh yeah, and I DO NOT ship Brenda/Thomas. TEAM TERESA FOREVER.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard review

YAH. FINALLY. I HAVE READ RED QUEEN. This book was so shucking amazing I died. THE ENDING THO. As with the last book review, I will be splitting it(the review) into two sections: The un-spoilerly and spoiler section(for people who have read the book).

Red Queen is a book with a lot of hype. Everybody was(and is) reading it, and I really wanted to read it. And now, like a million years later, I've read it, and to tell the truth, Red Queen deserved every bit of hype it got. Every last bit. Victoria Aveyard is an amazing writer, and knows how to pull you into the story. Mare Barrow is much like a Katniss figure, but at the same time, very different from Katniss. Mare's world is divided by the color of your blood. If you have a red blood, you belong to the poor class: The Red Bloods. If you have silver blood, you belong to the wealthy class: The Silver Bloods. Their silver blood gives them special powers, like controlling water, fire and stuff like that. Mare Barrow is a red blood, but she has a silver blood power...the ability to make lightning. The plot twist in the book was so amazing. I did not see it coming at all and I'm mind blown.
Ok that's it for the non-spoilerly section.

                                                                   BIG SPOILERS

                                                           LIKE MAJOR SPOILERS.

                                                                   LEAVE NOW.

1) The First Friday arena fights.

This was really interesting. It was sort of like The Hunger Games, as it was filmed live, and everyone had to watch it. But was is different is that it was two silver bloods fighting each other with their powers, and they aren't supposed to kill each other.

2) Mare's family.

I really liked Mare's family. Gisa was a little annoying and full of her self, the Mom was a bit un-appreciative of Mare, and the dad was a grump. Otherwise, they were really nice. I felt really sad when Mare talks about how her brothers before they left for the war, bought Gisa and her one earring each, and how she was saving up to buy one for Gisa when she went to the war.

3) The war with the Lakelanders.

I thought that this war was really stupid, and just another way of controlling the Reds.

4) The Red Guard.

The Red Guard is interesting. I don't like Farley much, but the cause is good.

5) The Queenstrials.

OMGS. That part was soo cool! And when Mare blasted Evangeline I was so happy!

6) Maven and Mare.

Ok I really shipped Maven/Mare UNTIL the end of the book. Now I hate Maven and ship Cal/Mare. MAVEN IS SO EVIL ASDGHJKL!

7) The Plot Twist.

I got to the plot twist at like 11:00 PM, and I was so shell shocked I couldn't sleep at all. WHYYYYY. VICTORIA HOW COULD YOU?! I TRUSTED MAVEN! HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE GOOD! ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

8) The Arena fight to the death.

This was the most exciting part of the book. So good!

9) Mare being a mutant(a red blood that has silver blood powers.) And how there are many more of her kind.

YASSS.

10) Shade(one of Mare's brother) actually being alive, not dead.

I almost cried. This part was so sad, sweet and happy all at the same time.

Ok I guess that it. Red Queen was amazing. Go read it. 5/5 stars.
