July 2016 Wrap Up

Well July was AMAZING. Mainly because Girls Talk Boys by 5sos was released, but I will refrain from spending this entire post shrieking about how BEAUTIFUL it was. (Am I the only one who's noticed that movie soundtracks have been getting better and better? Like first Suicide Squad had Twenty One Pilots, and then Ghostbusters get Fall Out Boy, Walk The Moon, AND 5sos. Like, um, YASSS.)

Books I Read:

- The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski. OMG THIS WAS SUCH A GOOD FINALE. I CANNOT STRESS THAT ENOUGH. I was sooo pleased with it. KESTREL/ARIN FOREVER. 5/5 stars

- Scarlet by Marissa Myer. So almost a year ago, I read Cinder, loved it, and then never picked up Scarlet. Why? I don't really know. I guess there were so many new releases I was trying to read, that I totally forgot about poor old Scarlet. But this month I decided that it was about time I stopped forgetting, and read Scarlet. And that's what I did. I ADORED IT. It was way better than Cinder, which is saying something, because Cinder was amazing. 5/5 stars

- Missing by Kelley Armstrong. Missing was incredible. Missing sucked me in, and spat me out feeling like I've just read one of the best thrillers EVER. Because Missing isn't your normal thriller. It's not in-your-face-crazy-thriller, it's a sneaky-quietly-creepy-thriller that will blow you away. Winter Crane is a powerful main character who doesn't take shit from no one, and I really appreciated that. 5/5 stars

- Highly Illogical Behaviour by John Corey Whaley. This book was incredibly cute and funny. I really enjoyed it, but for me, there was something missing. I don't know what, but I felt the story was missing something. 4/5 stars.

- Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge.  Cruel Beauty was a steamy, wonderful conglomeration of: Greek mythology, romance, darkness, and weirdness. Me has much love for this book. But I was rather confused towards the end, so 4.5/5 stars.

- Between The Lines by Jodi Picolt and Samantha van Leer. OMG THIS BOOK. IT WAS AMAZING. The concept, the romance..it was an amazing fairy tale. 5/5 stars.

- Get Well Soon by Julie Halpern. This book was amazing, funny, and very entertaining. I read it in one sitting, something I haven't done in a while. 5/5 stars.

- Cracked by K.M. Walton. So this was a heartbreaking, wonderful book. It did have it's flaws, however, as most books do. 4/5 stars.

- Unrivaled by Alyson Noel. Now I was expecting to hate this book....but it surprised me so much. I loved it. It was glamourous, glitzy, and dark. I NEED THE NEXT BOOK NOW.
5/5 stars.

Books Bought:
lol none.

Writing News:
So Gearbound has been going well. I also explained what the Alternates are: Gearbound Udate: In Which I Kindly Explain What The Alternates Are
The #secretsummerwritingproject is coming along very well. I am so pleased with how much it's grown and matured. You'll get a full length post all about it at the end of summer.
Unfortunately I can't post chapters of Gearbound for another two weeks.

Fandom News:

- I mean obviously the first bit of news is that Girls Talk Boys was released. It was beautiful. I loved it. Now, where is album three hiding? QUICK IT NEEDS TO HAPPEN. Also it has this FOB vibe that I'm really digging. Like, it sounds like a FOB song.

- The Darkest Minds trilogy is getting adapted into a live action movie, and Jennifer Yuh Nelson (think Kung Fu Panda 2 and 3) is set to direct it.

- Margret Stohl, who co-authored Beautiful Creatures, and wrote Black Widow: Forever Red, is set to write a series about Captain Marvel!!!! YAY!

And since I've been away and all that stuff, I will excuse myself from finding more news.

And that was my July. What did you guys do this month?(I went on holiday.) Do you find that you read more during the summer, or during the school year?(I tend to read more during the school year.)

Random Things || All The Updates + Hiatus

So how has everyone summer been? Isn't it crazy that the year is already over half done??? WHERE IS ALL THE TIME GOING. QUICK SOMEONE GET ME A TARDIS SO THAT I CAN GO BACK IN TIME AND DO STUFF THAT I DIDN'T GET DONE. ahem.
(ALSO GIRLS TALK BOYS. I LOVE IT SO MUCH. Personally I think it sounds like a FOB song. Which is a really good thing because I adore FOB.)

WRITING:
Gearbound was going well, but I've seem to hit this snag where I can only write 350/500 word chapters. WHAT IS HAPPENING UGH.
The #secretsummerwritingproject is coming along really nicely. There's no stress to finish it fast. I can take my time with it to make sure it's the best first draft I've ever done.

ALSO:
I'M GOING AWAY FOR THREE WEEKS. Which means no blogging, except for the end of month wrap up post, which I've already done 90% of (it's not quite finished as July's not finished, but the bulk of it is done.) Please don't unfollow or anything. Like I said, there will be the end of July Wrap Up, and maybe, just maybe book review. Maybe. If I have time. Also, I've discovered that I might not be able to update Gearbound while I'm away. Idk. We'll see. I promise that if I don't manage to update it, I'll post all three chapters in one day.

SO. LET'S TALK. How's your summer been so far? (Are you obsessed with 5sos' Girls Talk Boys like I am?) What's the best book you've read this year so far? I don't know what my personal favorite is yet. I'm undecided. Do you tend to read lots over the summer, or not? I tend to read lots, because summer is when I have the most free time.

Gearbound Update || In Which I Kindly Explain What The Alternates Are.

It has come to my attention that anybody who's been reading Gearbound has no idea in hell or Hogwarts what the Alternates are. And so I decided that it was high time I explained it. Your welcome.

The Alternates are alternate 'worlds' or 'dimensions' of a specific spot or place. They are caused when high levels of magic concentrate together, and cause a 'magic malfunction'. They can also be caused when opposing magic forces combine in large quantities.

Imagine this: Two warlocks have a fight. When their magic collides, the magic has nowhere to go, and the force of the collision sends into anti-matter, creating an alternate. The alternate could be a mile long, or maybe it's only a foot wide.

Alternates are extremely dangerous for non magical people. Basically, if you are not aware of the alternate, you can accidentally enter it, and get stuck forever. If you are going to enter an alternate, and you are not a warlock, make sure you take a warlock with you, so you can actually get out.

Alternates are popular because you can often find strange, unheard of objects in there that fetch quite a bit of money in real life. Because of this, warlocks generally keep the locations secret, so they can monopolize the profits from the alternates.

And there you have it, people! Alternates 101. Now have fun wondering why Jacobi and Jack needed a map of The Alternates.......

Beautiful People #19 || July 2016

Today I'm doing the Beautiful People link up!!!! Yay! It's been awhile since I last did one. Beautiful People is hosted by Cait @Paper Fury and Skye @ further up and further in. For this month's questions, I'm using Finn from my story Bumble Bee.

    1) Do they want to get married and/or have children? Why or why not?
Nope. Finn is not interested in that type of thing. Besides, she'd make a terrible parent, and she knows that.

2) What is their weapon of choice? (It doesn’t necessarily have to be a physical weapon.)
A whip and lethal injections of poison. She's not a nice person.

3) What's the nicest thing they've done for someone else, and why did they do it?
She doesn't do nice things for people. She's an assassin/thief.

4) Have they ever been physically violent with someone, and what instigated it?
Her current body count (including civilians who stupidly got in her way) is 1,500. So yes, I'd say she's been very violent.
Literally Finn.

5) Are they a rule-follower or a rebel?
Definitely a rebel.

6) Are they organized or messy?
She's OCD about mess, and will literally clean her whole house in a couple of hours.

7) What makes them feel loved, and who was the last person to make them feel that way?
She doesn't know what love even is. Her parents abandoned her, she was raised by a crime lord, and she kills people without remorse. Nobody has ever made her loved in her life. She's quite the sad little cinnamon roll (that will kill you.)

8) What do they eat for breakfast?
Pancakes. She loves pancakes. (Not very surprising, as she's Canadian.) She eats them with peanut butter and syrup.

9) Have they ever lost someone close to them? What happened?
She's not close to anybody, but I'd say she's still mad at her parents for abandoning her.

10) What’s their treat of choice? (Or, if not food, how else do they reward themselves?)
An iced coffee from Tim Hortons.

AND THAT WAS THIS MONTH'S BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!
WHAT HAVE YOU BEE WRITING THIS MONTH?
ANYTHING REALLY SUPER EXCITING? ALSO LINK ME
TO YOU BPs SO I CAN READ THEM!

Okay so I didn't buy any books, but I did win an ARC of Missing by Kelley Armstrong at her book signing. However, since the book doesn't come out until April 2017, and the cover hasn't been released or anything, I won't be taking a picture of it.
